This fascinating tour gives you an experience of the contrasts of southtern India. Bangalore, a bustling, vibrant modern city with its new technology parks and industries contrasts dramatically with the ancient city of Mysore and its stunning palaces. The former hill stations of the British Raj where people went to escape the summer heat on the plains are a world away from life for an ordinary villager today. Modern cities and traditional village life; paddy fields, coconut groves, spice gardens and tea plantations; modern roads and steam railways; frenetic cities and rural calm: The contrasts within this tour will astound you and leave you with enduring memories of an unforgettable holiday.
This is one of our three tours which offer an extended stay at Lakeside to enable you to explore at a more relaxed pace. A resort run to European standards by British owners, situated miles from the nearest village with stunning lake and mountain views, this is a unique experience of peaceful seclusion in a country which normally moves at a much faster pace.

Our representative will meet you and take you to your hotel Overnight Bangalore
Tour Bangalore, a city of contrasts from the British Raj to modern high technology. Overnight Bangalore
Drive to Srirangapatnam where you can tour the important sites including the Sri Ranganatha Temple. From there continue your journey to the Brindavan Gardens and then on to Mysore Overnight Mysore
Tour this fascinating city full of history; see the amazing palaces and Chamundi Hill Overnight Mysore
Drive to Mudamalai National Park where you will have the opportunity to view some of Indias amazing wildlife. Overnight Mudumalai
Drive to Ooty where you can see the Botanical Gardens and lake and experience something of this old hillstation of the former Raj. Overnight Ooty
Take the narrow gauge railway from Ooty to Coonoor and then the steam railway from Cooonoor to Mettupalayam. From there drive down to the plains where you will visit the temple at Palani before continuing your journey to Lakeside. Overnight Lakeside
Day trip to Madurai where you will see the amazing Meenakshi temple and have the opportunity to do some shopping
Enjoy the tranquil setting and take the opportunity to relax. With a guesthouse fronting on to the Karamaraj Lake you can sit back and enjoy the stunning scenery and soothing walks along the shoreline. There is also an optional half day tour of local the village and crafts*. Overnight Lakeside.
Take another day to relax and recharge your batteries or take the optional day trip to Kodaikanal* where there is the option of a pleasant round of golf*. Overnight Lakeside.
Perhaps take the opportunity to Visit the typically Indian town of Dindigul where you will be able to view the temple and rock fort as well as indulge in a little shopping!* Overnight Lakeside
Make the most of your last day at Lakeside to relax and enjoy the lake and mountains. Take a swim or a walk; maybe take one of our cycles for a ride or go horse riding (subject to availability)* Overnight Lakeside
Fly home from either Madurai or Trichy airport. You can extend your stay with extra nights at Kanyakumari or Lakeside. Or have an extra night in Madurai or Trichy before your flight.
